Lanterns: He loses

He loses

What a hot summer we are having. I know some plaxes are hotter than California but, it is still hot here. Recently I have been looking around the internet to see what kind of employment is available for a Pastor position. This is just out of curiosity. I have noticed that many Churches don’t ask for people to have a Masters of Divinity degree. That was refreshing to see. These places ask for mostly experience in whichever position is available. They also want someone who is a person of God. Many also say a qualification is and then it says see i Timothy 3:8-13 and Titus 1: 5-9. The latter read as follows; “The reason I left you in Crete was that you might put in order what was left unfinished and appointa]">[a] elders in every town, as I directed you. An elder must be blameless, faithful to his wife, a man whose children believeb]">[b] and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient.Since an overseer manages God’s household, he must be blameless—not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain. Rather, he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined. He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.”

I don’t have a problem with any of it but, the section that talks about children not being wild or disobedient, well… See I have two teenage boys. My oldest has Autism and my youngest has ADHD. They are like oil and water so the are wild and sometimes disobedient. Hmm. I wonder how that would play out if I were applying for that job. Just wondering. When I think about this, I also think about other things. I think about all the people who are around me who are not so honest, who will lie and steal at the drop of a hat. They get upset when I bring it up to them. I see on a daily basis how Satan is working to try to get to me and my children. In the midst off all of this I also see how Satan is losing. The other day my boys were walking with their aunt. They saw smoke coming from a balcony and they saw some flames. They went to the door of the place and knocked. Nobody answered but, a neighbor did. They told the neighbor their was a fire and the neighbor got the person to open the door and told them. Come to find out, a small child lives there. My boys did the right thing in telling someone about the fire and they felt good to know it was put out before anyone got hurt, incliding that child. The devil still tries to win but, I read the end of the book; he loses. He always will. Sure, a lot of people fall into temptation but, Satan still loses. How has Satan been working in YOUR life and what do you do to deflect him?

God bless
